Summer vacation is here for all the kids who spent the last nine months in a classroom, tucked behind their school desk. The 2018/19 school year was the best one yet for Cultivate–because we fed more kids than ever. But we won’t stop there!
Whereas summer vacation is a joy for many children, for others, summer means three months of hunger. Our goal is to be able to provide over 400 backpacks by the start of the 2019/2020 school year.
Food-insecurity affects families, as a whole, and the Michiana area is home to nearly half a million residents. Over a hundred thousand of those residents suffer food-insecurity on a daily basis. These are your friends and neighbors– your community members, and your own family.
Cultivate aims to ensure food security for hungry children, year-round. New partnerships, community support, and increased awareness give us the tools to effect a greater change in the lives of hungry children. And, thanks to our new partnership with Meat Hunger, this summer will serve to feed more children for the 2019/2020 school year than ever before.
