Four years ago, we started on this food rescue journey. It all started when we saw a huge need in our community: thousands of people are hungry every day, while 40% of our food supply is being thrown away. Between July 2017 and July 2018, we rescued 80,200 pounds of food that would have otherwise ended up in the trash. Our partnerships with the University of Notre Dame, Century Center, and Nelson’s Catering were crucial to our launch of this program. We could not have imagined the four-year impact of our mission that pairs both reducing food waste and reducing food insecurity in our community.
You can directly improve the life of a hungry child in our community today by making a gift of $35 per month. With your support, we can continue to reduce our carbon footprint and reduce food insecurity in St. Joseph, Elkhart, and Marshall counties.
Thanks to our current supporters, we have distributed 374,000 meals using rescued, repurposed food. 1.8 million pounds of food have been saved from landfills and we’ve reduced our carbon footprint by 301,000 kg CO2. We need your help to continue to grow this impact!
